A quick history of how some NFL teams were named.
BEARS - George Halas moved the Decatur Staleys to Chicago in 1921. The Staleys played at Wrigley Field, the home of baseball’s Cubs. Halas determined that if the baseball tenants were Cubs, then his more rugged gridiron combatants should be known as the Bears. [...] Back in 1990 before live sports scores were available on the internet, unless you were at the game, there was no way to get an on-demand instant score of a baseball game.
